In simple terms, applicant\/inventor obtains exclusive rights to make, use, and sell their invention for a certain period, usually 20 years from the date of filing the patent application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Type of Patents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are different types of patents, including utility patents and design patents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Utility Patent:<\/strong> Utility patents cover new and useful processes, machines, articles of manufacture, or compositions of matter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Design Patent:<\/strong> Design patents cover new, original, and ornamental designs for an article of manufacture. In India, Design Patent are similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/videaimip.com\/industrial_design.html\">Industrial Design Registration.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which Act governs the patent system in India?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ipindia.gov.in\/writereaddata\/Portal\/IPOAct\/1_32_1_patent_act_1977-3-99.pdf\">Patents Act, 1970<\/a> as amended by the Patents (Amendment) Act, 2005 and the Patents Rules, 2003 is the governing act India patent system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Understanding Patent application procedure in India?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Patent application procedure with Indian Patent Office comprises submitting a provisional specification or a complete specification along with prescribed fees.
